EXHIBITION AT THE AMERICAN EMBASSY IN ROME
INTO THE GREAT WILD OPENFebruary 2013 The existence of an area of free land, its continuous recession, and the advance of American settlement, explain American development. ― Frederick Jackson Turner
American historian Frederick Jackson Turner's Frontier Thesis is the starting point for a production of works that demonstrate the spirit and dynamism of American character through the search for their personal destiny on new terrain, from the early pioneers who moved in covered wagons to settle the Wild West to early rail travel that fed an ever growing spirit of travel and adventure. This thread continues with American car culture immortalized in On the Road, which captures the yearning for self-discovery in the post-War Beat Generation. A spirit of personal self-discovery combined with a longing for freedom through travel is the driving force behind Alice Pasquini's newest series of eleven pieces on show during the month of February at the Tri-Mission Art Gallery at the American Embassy of Rome. Viewings on request only. Please write to info@alicepasquini.com for details.
