You can be truthful whiotut being mean. You can be honest whiotut being catty. Hating on someone for any reason is never a good plan even if it's DIY. People are different, do things differently even incorrectly for many many reasons. Wondering is one thing hatin on them is entirely another. Do you really want to be putting that out into the universe? Feel some compassion for them. You are asking people to feel compassion for you aren't you? Blogs that have a number of sponsers, that are making money you won't see mean-spirited refrences to previous owners. It is ok to wonder' and say it doesn't work, or even that's it's not code;, but it is not nice blog manners to constantly want to kick them, punch them, and generally hate on how stupid they are. IF YOU don't care, and would rather not have readers or sponsers keep on hatin'. As you pointed out, it's your life, it's your blog, and you can hate if you want.to. But hatin' will not work, and will come back to get you. Just sayin'.

OH OKAY. :] Underrepresentation depends too much on trinyg to get “permission” to be showcased. Yes. Definitely. Have you heard of Bendingrace.com? It's a site that talks about the fact thfact that Hollywood only casts white actors to play people of color, and my friend linked it to me because they're doing a live action adaptation of Akira. And the people at the site send letters to studio executives, and protest in order to get Hollywood to cast asians, native americans, or what have you. At first, I thought This is great! I'm always complaining about this stuff. but then, when I read your comment, I realized that underrepresented groups depend too much on white people to grant them visibility. And this is really bad because white privilege means never having to care (or at least notice), and since Hollywood is very much a business, they're not going to really stop creating all white casts. So I definitely think it's time for each community to come together and produce work for their own people. I understand the premise of trinyg to convince Hollywood, because it has a further reach, but if a person (or select group of people) becomeitable enough, they can join the ranks and influence change that way. Talking with you lik this, and after reading Bendingrace.com has definitely made me want to go into filmmaking. My hope is to tell stories with black people in them, or whatever kind of non-white race.

Tyler Perry isn't that big of a deal cinematically. As a black famlee, I'm all about having non-white perspectives on black issues in cinema. But. But I can't say that I'm a fan. In terms of famlee representation, he's not really very good about that. There's an excellent article I read about how he depicts women in his movies as being power hungry maniacs whose men suffer at the hand of their ambitions (re: Why did I get married?) except Jill Scott the meek, non-confrontational, Christian woman. Even if themetically his movies were watchable, he doesn't possess much talent as a film-maker. There are many different ways to create good cinema like how The Social Network and Black Swan are kickass films in their own ways. But Perry's films aren't really Oscar material. For some reason, he thinks emotionally damaged characters is enough to get nominated, and it really isn't. So while I don't hate Tyler Perry, I definitely think he's overrated but it just shows how hungry the black community is for a black presence in Hollywood.
by Dawid @ 24 Nov 2012 12:11 pm
Perry is just a rough example here. Insert any nolabte Black figure and there is a segment of the Black population that will think they are above reproach. Of course, people have fans, but there are fans and then there are those who think Black success and talent/genius go hand in hand (like one cannot be absent without the other). My main point, however, was that if Black folks can have a meaningful of dialogue about race, they need to shed the Tyler Perry syndrome. Obviously, blacks are not some giant monolith, but I think our progress with racial dialogue has been stunted because you have mindsets like the one described in this post.

I'm sorry, I can never make it through the first 15 sencods of his videos. It's not that he's dumber than a sack of hammers... well, maybe. But it's kind of like listening to my pre-school age kids when they latch on to what they think is a funny word or phrase. They keep repeating it over, and over, and over... Hoo boy. It just doesn't improve with repetition.

... I'm sorry, I can never make it through the first 15 sedcnos of his videos.I'm with you dude..after about 10 sedcnos you get the jist. If you didn't, after the next 10 sedcnos you will. If you still haven't got it..then you're a moonbat. He does crack me up though. He does creep me out kinda with the kids as background laughter..wouldn't want him around my children.

Rube, I'll show ya rube, what the hell is Othelloiago, some fancy pants European wannabe name? You lebritards bug the dogcrap out of me. Any time some fine upstanding christian man does something good for the people you go and start calling them names and saying bad things about them. You try to change the subject so that good upstanding texans who think your socialist facist president who is steering america like the titanic down into the cold water. just wait til Our GREAT GOVENOR PERRY become PRESIDENT PERRY, he will put Bama where he belongs, in Guantamo. Govenor Perry has done nothing but good while your so called president has ruined this good country, We need to get back to where we were before him and Kennedy and Johnson and Clinton tried to turn us into multicultual Europe. We need to be like we were in the 50 s befor all this bs started, things were better then and President Perry will get us back there, @hole..
by Jandy @ 25 Nov 2012 03:23 am
Govenor Perry has been the best governor we have had in decdaes. Bush was a good govenor but Govenor Perry has done great things. He has kept us with no income tax. He has kept out the gamblers making them stay otside the borders. He has forced Obama to get him more borger guards. He fought hard to put up a fence but was spit on by the socialists that want more mexicans in texas to vote for them. Govenor Perry would make a great president and would make the goverment let the states do what they want to do.

Hi,This is Matt, Laurel's son. I'm using her account beucase I'm too young to have a Google account, anyways I just wanted to share somethings I got out of this blog. These lessons about attitude reminded me of Eyore. Even when it was a sunny day he made it a cloudy day for himself.I believe in life sometimes we make ourselves gloomy and sad for only tiny reasons. If were es we make ourselves gloomy and sad for only tiny reasons. If were always sad we might miss a blessing that God has for us and we might cause someone else to miss out too. Thank you for doing this blog.It has helped me in so many ways. Our whole family reads it and supports it.From,Matt 11years old.

Wouldn't surprise me if Weakland siengd it but I thought he was living in New Jersey in a Benedictine monastery. Then again I seem to recall something about him changing his mind after he wrote his memoir and moved back to Wisc. where he is living in a small senior's apartment.

Hello. Great blog. I have always waentd a place out in the country where all you can hear is birds chirping and the pine trees blowing in the wind. Well now I have that so I don't know what to dream about now...I'll have to think of something else. haha. I am new to blogging so will follow you. If you have a chance to check me out I'd love any comments. P.S. Upstate NY is one of my favorite places in the US. Adirondacks, Lake George, Lake Placid, Ticonderoga, Malone, are all places I've been. Love it.
