Teatro Comunale di Bologna – 2019 Season Visual Campaign
Ten portraits of strong women created by Alice Pasquini make up the exclusively female concept that CHEAP conceived for the 2019 opera season of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. Each opera is represented by the female protagonist, with their classic characteristics bringing into focus their emotions and ties to the central narrative. Scrolling through we find the madness of Azucena at the center of the plot of “Il trovatore“, a vampy Salome, the provocative Rosina from “The Barber of Seville“, the sweet ingenuity of Gilda in “Rigoletto“, the passionate Violetta of “La traviata“, the cold acidity of Turandot, the gothic Mrs. Lovett of “Sweeney Todd“, an ironic and light Isabella for “An Italian in Algiers“, a determined Leonore from “Fidelio” and an unbelievable protagonist for “I pagliacci – Cavalleria Rusticana.” The Roman artist has used vibrant colors that recall the walls the artist paints around the world. The challenge for CHEAP, developed together with Studio Grafico Diversa-mente was the find the meeting between the contemporary language of street art and the classical world of opera in a way that brought value to both worlds.
